Interpretation Of Doorway-The Research On The Entrance Space Of Chinese Traditional Architecture Based On Place Theory

Generally speaking,a real encounter with buildings happens in the place of"enter",and this process requires an appropriate "dot",that is the entrance space.And what Chinese traditional architecture good at is the understanding of entrance space.The doorway,as the main body of entrance space,not only has the function of passing through and defense,but also has a more complicated symbolic meaning about space and culture in Chinese traditional architectural system.Place theory was put forward in the late 1970s’.Despite of its short history,it provides new perspectives and scopes to comprehend architecture and buildings.In the base of natural place and man-made place,the essay tries to discuss how to construct the place and feel the place spirit,and summarizing place theory with"artistic conception of architecture" of entrance space of Chinese traditional architecture.Place theory is a completely theoretical model of the west,and entrance space of Chinese traditional architect is a completely Chinese topic.Guided by place theory,we hope to get something outside of the traditional theory.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first one has been cleared about the"Doorway","Entrance Space" and Place Theory,summarizing the research status at home and abroad,the innovation of research,the research methods and basic framework;the second one is about Place Theory and the entrance space of Chinese traditional architecture,and the similarity between place theory and "architectural meaning" of the entrance space of Chinese traditional architecture.The third one is a cross study about place theory and the entrance space of Chinese traditional buildings.The first section is about the influence of place on the entrance space form of Chinese traditional architecture,because of "the happening of event and behavior";the second and third section is a discussion about the place experience and expression of place spirit of Chinese traditional entrance based on place theory,anchoring the entrance space of Chinese traditional architecture in site and creating place spirit.The forth one is about some place organization forms of entrance space of Chinese traditional architecture—guide,landscape and emotion.The forth chapter are some case analysis.And the last one are conclusions and shortages.
