A Study On Chinese Rural Construction And Operation Practice Of Contemporary Architects

In recent years,due to the national policy's guide and support on the construction and development of rural area,the discussion and attention about the topic of contemporary rural construction and operation become increasingly hot.More and more contemporary architects get engaged in rural construction and operation practice and explore design strategies and methods.Thus,a series of are promoted reaction times background,local characteristics and social values of the architectural practice of the landing.The introduction chapter introduces the origin purpose and significance of this research.Then the concept of vernacular,vernacular architecture and the urban architect who is different from local craftsman are clearly defined to explain the contents of the study.The paper also introduces the current research of the domestic and foreign construction.And the research methods and framework of this paper follow at the end of this chapter.The second chapter analyzes the overall characteristics and phenomena of contemporary architects,Chinese rural construction and operation practice on the basis of about 70 selected typical projects.It introduces the characteristics of the architects and their diverse value orientation and working status;also it points out the phenomenon that the practical cases of rural construction are mainly concentrated in the southwest,northwest backward areas and the southeast coastal rich area and their characteristics;meanwhile,the statistics and analysis of these typical projects shows most of them are funded by the government-led specific events and donated by public welfare groups;and these projects are classified into 4 types:a large number of residential dwellings brought by post-disaster reconstruction,the educational schools donated by NGOs,the community public supporting services and cultural buildings and the rural boutique hotels and local homes due to the emerging rural tourism.The third chapter summarizes the diverse design strategies of the contemporary architects based on the selected typical projects.It is presented that the architects hold a thinking and architectural view about local community development and public participation and push it forward during the projects.And the architects also apply several diverse appropriate design strategy to the architecture as the response to various aspect of the construction,including nature and climate,site and place,function and space,material and construction,structure and technology.The result follows that the architect's practice and exploration of the rural living space and environment is a building activity combining local industrial economy,history and culture,natural environment,local rural residents and other elements,and based on the full consideration of the relations between the local community and land,human and culture.All of above analysis aims to provide some practical experience and guidance for the following practice of Chinese local construction and operation,and clarify the value orientation of contemporary architects during the practice.The fourth chapter summarizes the social and architectural effects of the contemporary architects'practice,and reconsiders the deficiencies and limitations.The paper first discusses the positive significance of the rural construction activities to the rural construction and development in China,and reconsider the differences between the architects' values and the public demand in the rural construction and the imperfect construction mechanism of the local areas.Then it points out that the practice of rural construction and operation prompts the architects to reevaluate the value of the rural architecture and community and the change of the architect's professional status.It also promotes the transformation of the architectural education concept from the modernist architectural system to the real site and life,and rethinks the architects,occupational ethics and social responsibility in the space production system of contemporary China.The conclusion chapter reviews the above arguments about the rural construction and operation practice of the contemporary architects and comes to conclusion.The paper constructs a theoretical framework for examining the rural construction and operation practice of the contemporary architects,interprets the characteristics of the architects and the regional distribution,the type of owners and functional classification of the rural projects,summarizes the experience of contemporary architects' rural construction practice on community development and suitability design strategies based on buildings,and rethink its significance of China's current rural construction and some existing problems,of architect's professional identity and social responsibility,and of the positive impact on architectural education.Meanwhile,it finds out the inadequacies and shortcomings of this paper about the research content and research methods,and points out the further and deepen supplement in the future research.
