The Evaluation Research On Public Space In The Shichahai Historic District Based On Humanized Design

The historic districts,as an important part of China's historical and cultural heritage,display the characteristics of a historic city.The Shichahai historic district,which has favorable natural environment and precious cultural heritages,serves to preserve the traditional style and features of Beijing.However,with urban development,the emerging problems in terms of environment quality and the order of public space utilization have had a negative impact on the function and vitality of the historic district.As the place where public activities take place in the historic district,public space can show the vitality of the district.The traditional way to make a design scheme of public space almost totally depends on the preference of the designer.Nevertheless,public space is built to serve the people.People's behavior demand and regular activity patterns may vary from each other based on the personal background,the purpose of activities and other kinds of factors.General knowledge of users' psychological and behavioral demands in the space is the basis of improving the quality of public space.Only in this way can we create a public space that satisfies the users and then vitalize historic district.This paper aims to evaluate the public space in the Shichahai historic district from the perspective of humanized design and explore its usage and users' satisfaction,as well as sum up the elements that influence the quality of different kinds of public space.Based on that,several suggestions are given to improve the Shichahai historic district's public space.The whole paper is divided into six parts.The first chapter is the introduction of the paper,including the research's background,meaning,purpose and the object.Besides that,it analyzes relevant concepts,domestic and foreign research.With the above as the foundation,the direction and the methods of the research are clear.The second chapter analyzes the behavioral patterns of the users in Shichahai historic district,and elucidates the impact that spatial form has on users' behavior.The third chapter analyzes the current situation of the public space in Shichahai historic district,and concludes its' type and features as well.It also introduces the landscape sketches' configuration in the public space.Chapter four is the preparation of the evaluation.It summarizes the evaluation's steps and methods,and selects subjective and objective factors.Besides that,it determines the criteria of evaluation factors in the angle of humanization.Chapter five is the implementation of the evaluation.Firstly,it selects three typical public spaces in the Shichahai historic district and detailedly analyzes their current situation,users,the way the spaces are used and users' satisfaction ratings.With all above,the three spaces can be comprehensively evaluated.On the basis of these evaluation results,all of the public space in the Shichahai historic district can also be evaluated.Meanwhile,the factors that influence the quality of each kind of public space can be put forward.The last chapter demonstrates the research achievements and make proposals to improve the quality of the public space in the Shichahai historic district.
