Study On The Design Of Public Space Renewal In Old Neighborhoods Based On Post Occupancy Evaluation

With the rapid development of urbanization in China,the residential community enters the era of stock,and under the joint action of many factors,the demand for public space in the community changes,and the existing public space cannot meet the needs of residents.This study is an attempt to introduce the post-use evaluation method into the design of public space renewal in old neighborhoods in the context of urban renewal,to conduct post occupancy evaluation research on public space in old neighborhoods from the perspective of users’ activity behavior and psychological feelings,and to explore a method applicable to old neighborhoods to renew their public space based on the existing post occupancy evaluation theory system.This study takes human needs as the criterion.This study takes human needs as a criterion,introduces post occupancy evaluation to investigate the problems of public space in old neighborhoods,clarifies the concepts of post occupancy evaluation,old neighborhoods and public space,and summarizes the current status of domestic and international research.The study will also identify and classify the public spaces in the old neighborhoods by compiling the history of housing construction in Hangzhou and the renewal process of the old neighborhoods.Using the public space-public life research method,we analyze the results of the research on the Chaohui neighborhood,combine the renovation demands of different aspects,construct a post occupancy evaluation system for public space in old neighborhoods,determine the evaluation indexes at the criterion and program levels,and assign weights to the relevant indexes to provide theoretical data for the post occupancy evaluation of public space in old neighborhoods.This study combines the semantic difference(SD)and hierarchical analysis(AHP)methods to conduct post occupancy evaluation of the Chaohui neighborhood,distributing post occupancy evaluation questionnaires to the residents of the neighborhood and conducting semi-structured interviews to understand the real feelings of users in the environment and provide feedback on their behavioral characteristics and psychological needs.On this basis,the application of post occupancy evaluation theory is effectively expanded by combining subjective and objective qualitative and quantitative methods,summarizing the common problems of different space types according to the public space needs of different people,proposing matching design strategies and explaining them,and presenting solutions for four types of public spaces,namely,access space,roadside public space,square activity space and neighborhood activity space.This study is based on post occupancy evaluation.Based on post occupancy evaluation,this study constructs a post occupancy evaluation system for public spaces in old neighborhoods,quantifies the satisfaction of residents after use,proposes universal design strategies and implements them into design practice,solves the problem of mismatch between existing public spaces and users in old neighborhoods,improves the living environment and creates quality life.
