Study On The Design Of The Old Factory Building Under LOFT Mode

The traditionally characterized traces of the cities,as the unprecedented urbanization,are erased gradually due to replacing old buildings with newly constructed ones in a large-scale,which,in the meantime,causes the ignorance of cities’ inhabited essence and historic values.A large number of futile old factory buildings are laid out because of the adjustment of industrial structures under the shift to post-industrial social age.Thus,it is a necessity of remolding those buildings out of the sustainable development trend.Nowadays,multicultural ideologies also infuse in remolding old factory buildings.It is worthy of discussing what we can offer to rejuvenate and regenerate the futile factory buildings in terms of market economy.In this thesis,I analyze remolding futile factory buildings via plugging LOFT MODE.I briefly introduce the development of remolding architecture through LOFT MODE.Simultaneously,I synthesize ideologies,methodology and practice scenario of LOFT MODE.I apply the related design theories into practice systematically connecting to case studies.Moreover,I mainly analyze the intrinsic motivation of transforming futile factory buildings to arts and cultural spaces under the LOFT MODE.In the thesis,I illustrate relevant factors that impact remolding futile factory buildings and conclude the designing methods and implemented strategies.Finally,I also offer some discussion and suggestions based on the research mentioned above,aiming to embody the model of remolding futile factory buildings.The thesis is made up of five parts.The first part is the introduction that mainly relates the research background,purpose,the significance,the current researches on remolding futile factory buildings both at home and abroad,the definition of concepts,and spectrum of my research.The second part illustrates the development of LOFT MODE,the basics of LOFT MODE,the characteristics of space formation,and the conditions of space remolding via LOFT MODE.The third part further discovers the values and importance of remolding futile factory buildings in cities on the basis of the development industrial architectures and the successful case studies both at domestic and international.Part four is the key chapter of this thesis.It elaborates the LOFT MODE strategies and methods of transforming futile and old factory buildings under the research on LOFT MODE of the current situation,regional analysis,remolding ideologies,inner space structures,indoor visional images,and external landscapes.The fifth part sums up some problems we encounter at present in practice and draws a conclusion,targeting to pay bedrock for the further research on remolding futile factory buildings via LOFT MODE.
