The Research Of Restoration On Dafo Palace Of Beihai Chanfu Temple

Chanfu temple building group is located in imperial city in Beijing and the northwest corner of Beihai.It was originally the former site of Taisu palace of Ming Dynasty and was reorganized and expanded in the early years of Qianlong Emperor and became a royal temple complex which contains Han and Tibetan Buddhist culture.It not only creates the splendid skylines in the northwest side of Beijing,but also demonstrates the design concept of landscape miniaturization of our ancient gardens,expressing the excellent tradition of the active merge of the peoples' multi-culture.In 1919,the main temple of Chanfu Temple,Dafo Palace was burned by fire;this not only destroys the integrity of the building group,but also makes it impossible to continue the above outstanding values.In the absence of material objects and drawing records,sites,stone tablets in front of the temple and old photos have played a breakthrough role in the whole recovery research.The important plane dimension data of Great Buddha Hall was obtained through archaeological sites excavation.The architectural control height was worked out by two-dimensional image.Then,by sorting out the related archival documents and historical photos,the styles and quantities of the building inter-spaces,doors and windows,bucket arches,colorful paintings and glazed works were obtained.Combined with the method literature of Qing Dynasty and buildings of the same type,the research results were recovered and the sizes of the construction components were determined.As for the parts without enough data basis,such as the large wooden structure and stairs,they were recovered referring to the building entities of the same time period and the same kind.At last,the complete construction image of the Great Buddha Hall was obtained.All the sizes and practice were repeatedly reasoned according to the recovery basis.The most possible one among many possibilities was chosen as the conclusion to express.At the same time of accurately reappearing the construction appearance and space dimensions of Dafo Palace,color painting and furnishings and creating method,we discuss the indoor and outdoor Buddha-worship space and try to summarize the development vein of Qing Dynasty royal temple buildings in construction layout and Buddha-worship space.
