With the rapid development of the number of aircrafts and air transportation capacity, it is necessary to improve the transmittability and solve the security problem of the air-ground communication. Thanks to its high spectral efficiency and good anti-jamming technique, L-DACS1 can not only deal with the multipath long time delay and Doppler shift, but also support extra-long distance coverage of ground stations and signal switching during high-speed moving. Therefore, the research on the subject has a great significance for the development of the future aviation industry of our country. In this paper, according to the L-DACS1 protocol, the key technologies of L-DACS1 are studied in detail and the FPGA design and implementation of the reverse link transmitter are also focused on.Firstly, by constructing the models of physical layer of L-DACS1 reverse link and aeronautical channel, the bit error performance of different aeronautical channel models is obtained with MATLAB simulation.Secondly, the implementation scheme of the physical layer of broadband aeronautical communication system reverse link transmitter is presented in this paper. In addition, the design and implementation of transmitter modules are introduced in detail and the ModelSim simulation results are also offered.Lastly, the hardware implementation and test are completed on Virtex5 FPGA development board of Xilinx. FPGA internal signals are also observed by making use of online logical analyzer(ChipscopePro). Furthermore, the system performance test is accomplished in the paper.All in all, the design, simulation and FPGA implementation of a whole broadband aeronautical communication system reverse link transmitter based on OFDM are achieved in the paper. The research is valuable and further study can be made on this basis.
