L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System 1(L-DACS1) is the candidate technology for the future aeronautical mobile communication system proposed by International Civil Aviation Organization, mainly provides data communication service for Air Traffic Control and Airline Operation Control. L-DACS1 has the characteristics of anti-multipath capability, high spectrum efficiency and high transmission capacity, supporting both voice and data communication services. So it becomes an important technology for future civil aviation communication system. In this paper, broadband aeronautical data link system is designed and implemented based on software radio development board. The result of this thesis not only verifies the technical specifications of L-DACS1, but also lays a solid foundation for China to develop future aviation communication system. The main work contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, according to L-DACS1 system definition proposal, frame structure of physical layer is researched and digital signal processing is analysed. Then the key algorithms of forward link are proposed, and the performance of the algorithms is verified by Matlab simulation.Secondly, system architecture of transmitter is given and design proposal of each module is proposed. Then each module is implemented based on ISE, and simulation results are provided to verify the correctness of each module.Thirdly, test is completed on Virtex-5 FPGA development board of Xilinx. In order to verify the correctness of transmitter, transmitter signals are observed with the aid of oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer. Furthermore, the system performance is obtained by integration testing.
