As the coming of big data era, product design develops with the tendency of diversification and aging, and the emotional design which is based on emotional and spiritual needs has been a trend now. The thesis choosing color changing cups as carrier analyzed and applied the emotional design theory to find out a specific emotional design way so as to improve the domestic phenomenon that color changing cups design is always apathetic and drab currently.First, the thesis combed origin, development, and main theory of emotional design, focusing on Norman's emotional design theory finally, and got the concept, development, components. It combined product system design theory as well, thus got methodological support for color changing cups then.Secondly, it carried out detailed design research including marketing, technology, users, modeling rule, man-machine environment and law research based on product system design theory. Thus, it revealed the emotion lacking problem of color changing cups design deeply, combining company's brand, and put forward emotional design positioning from instinct, behavior and reflective level.At last, it conducted color changing cups design practice under the guidance of emotional design positioning from cup body modeling, changing pattern, structure, man-machine and materials aspect etc.On business model part, it promoted and presold the color changing cups finished through crowdfunding platform.On design evaluation part, using SD analysis, it evaluated the color changing cups finished, and got the relevant data so as to test the practical effect of the design way.Innovative points:it finds out a specific design way about color changing cups design based on the emotional design and product system design methods, and can be as reference and guidance for new material applying on daily necessities design too.
