| With the development of information technology, BIM is more and more popular with building industry. Theoretically, the application of BIM technology would enhance the working efficiency for cost management enormously,and help achieve the goal of cost management. However, cost management has not got benefit from BIM yet. In the industry, how to apply BIM technology efficiently in cost management working practices is in the spotlight.This study starts from revealing the current status of cost management. By analyzing the deficiency existing in domestic current construction project in practice,as well as illustrating the value of applying BIM technology in cost management and challenges of BIM-based cost management implementation, this research proposes that the process of solving the problem how to apply BIM technology in cost management working practices is to introduce BIM in current workflow, which means BIM-based quantity taking-off(QTO).With studying the case combined by various components, this paper take the example of Revit, which is the core modeling software of BIM, to analyse how much influence has the method of designing over the accuracy of quantities extracted from3 D models to confirms deduction among the components in Revit. On this basis, it puts forward a set of calculation modeling considered the bill of quantities’ rule of measurement to guide modeling. A software platform named IsBIM is used to assist the process of QTO to remedy the defect of Revit in this aspect. In this research, the civil engineering and decoration of a dormitory models modeling by traditional graphics software and Revit relatively were set up, and then compares the quantities data extract from the former and the later, with whose QTO process is with the help of IsBIM, to verify the feasibility and efficiency of the way that using IsBIM to get the result of BIM quantities. |
