The Research Of Urban Infrastructure And Urban Space Growth Relationship In GanSu Province

The urbanization of our country is advancing ahead,and the capacity of urban space is mushrooming with the enlargement of the scale and the extending of urban infrastructure. These two factors of urban space and urban infrastructure constituted together ccities, and codetermined the development level of cities. The interaction and coordination of urban infrastructure and urban space evolution, is going through the whole process of urban development. In every special stage of city development, there have always been the corresponding changes in urban infrastructure, and vice versa,the corresponding changes in urban infrastructure seriously react on urban space evolution.The city is a complex socio-economic system, and a certain geographical center of political, economic and cultural. Infrastructure plays an important role in city evolution. To ensure the city operation, there must be a complete urban infrastructure system. Urban infrastructure is a complex subsystem in the city social system, which shows its unique and important role, and has been paid more and more attention, in a number of factors influencing the urban space evolution.Therefore, this paper conducted an in-depth research on the urban infrastructure? growth patterns of the space and the interaction between these two factors.This article has divided 12 prefecture-level cities in Gansu Province, namely,Lanzhou City, Jiayuguan City, Jinchang City, Baiyin City, Tianshui City etc, into three areas, large cities, medium-sized cities, small cities. The factors such as the year-end road area, the year-end water supply pipe length, number of hospital beds and the number of schools were taken as a proxy variable of urban infrastructure. And the construction area was chosen as a proxy for the growth of urban space. Based on the analysis conducted by the Panel Data Model which studies the relationship between infrastructure of the 12 cities in Gansu Province and urban space growth, the results indicate:(1) There is a significant positive correlation between road infrastructure,water infrastructure, health-care infrastructure and urban space growth of the 12 cities in Gansu Province. But there is a significant negative correlation between educational infrastructure and urban space growth of the 12 cities in Gansu Province.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between health-care infrastructure and urban space growth, and there is a high positive correlation between the road infrastructure, water infrastructure and urban space growth, and there is a significant negative correlation between the educational infrastructure and the urban space growth of the big and small-sized cities in Gansu Province.There is a significant positive correlation between road infrastructure, water infrastructure, health-care infrastructure and urban space growth,and there is a significant negative correlation between the educational infrastructure and the urban space growth of the mediumsized cities in Gansu Province.(3) The larger the urban scale is, the smaller the spontaneous stimulating effect that the infrastructure's influence on the growth of urban space will be. Meanwhile,such effect is obviously different on 12 prefecture-level cities in Gansu Province.Among them, the most significant spontaneous stimulating effect of the urban infrastructure can be seen in small cities; the effect on the medium-sized cities are second, then the large cities.(4) Both road infrastructure, water infrastructure, health-care infrastructure and education infrastructure have a positive promotion on the urban space growth in the large cities in Gansu Province. Road infrastructure, water infrastructure and healthcare infrastructure have a positive promotion on the urban space growth in the medium-sized cities in Gansu Province.Water infrastructure and health-care facilities have a positive promotion on the urban space growth in small cities in Gansu Province.(5) Educational infrastructure has a negative impact on the urban space growth of medium-sized and small-sized cities.Indicate with the growth of the urban space of the medium sized-cities and small cities in Gansu Province.The number of schools in the unit area is constantly decreasing,the ability to integrate the educational infrastructure is constantly improving.
