Under the background of the rapid development of our country,a large number of cities lack awareness of their historical and cultural excavation and protection, resulting in more and more cities experiencing the phenomenon of “thousand cities and one side”.Since ancient times,Wuwei was the political and military center in northwestern China. In December 1986,Wuwei was announced as the second batch of historical and cultural city by the State Council.During the period of the Republic of China, natural disasters and man-made disasters continued to occur in the Wuwei area.Frequent wars combined with the large-scale construction of modern cities had caused tremendous damage to the original texture of the ancient city, and the city’s appearance had also undergone earth-shaking changes.Although the protection of the ancient city of Wuwei has been carried out in an orderly manner in recent years, its historical value is still not fully reflected.Wuwei is the core city of the Hexi Corridor,an important transportation node, the link between China and the West, and it plays an important role in the “Belt and Road” strategy. It is undoubtedly that one of the important tasks of Wuwei City at this stage to seize the important opportunity of the “Belt and Road” initiative, reorient itself and reshape the historical glory. This article selects Wuwei as the research object, based on historical materials research, takes the urban spatial form as the starting point, sorts out and analyzes the spatial evolution process of Wuwei Ancient City, and makes a preliminary exploration on the protection and development of Wuwei Ancient City through quantitative research. The first chapter, sort and analyze the introduction part of the thesis research background, significance, content, concepts and methods, and defined the framework of the thesis; The second chapter analyzed the factors of urban spatial morphology changes affect the geographical location, traffic conditions and the natural environment of the ancient city of Wuwei, made a systematic exposition of the urban spatial pattern changes in Wuwei before the Ming and Qing Dynasties was made and its basic characteristics were analyzed; The third chapter analyzed the spatial morphological characteristics of the ancient city of Wuwei according to its natural pattern, organizational evolution, plane layout, skeleton characteristics, and functional zoning during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and excavated its historical value and cultural heritage. The above study focused on the spatial form of the ancient city of Wuwei and provided an important reference for the protection of the ancient city; The fourth chapter divided the ancient and modern Wuwei city into four periods: the period of the Republic of China, the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the beginning of reform and opening up,and the late period of reform and opening up.Starting from the four aspects of natural conditions, politics, economic development and social culture,we explored the influencing factors of the spatial patterns of the ancient city.As the dominant factor in the selection and construction of the ancient city of Wuwei, political elements play a leading role in the development of the city; The fifth chapter as a conclusion, combined with analysis in the previous chapters, put forward strategies, methods and contents to protect the ancient city of Wuwei spatial form. Moreover, looking forward to the future protection and development of the ancient city of Wuwei. The protection of the ancient city of Wuwei cannot be protected on the basis of the current situation, but should be on the basis of excavating the features of the historical and cultural forms of the city.It is necessary to fully grasp the connections between the historical elements of the ancient city and extend its historical context from an overall perspective in order to be able to reconstruct the ancient city of Wuwei. This has important guiding significance and scientific value for future urban construction and development of Wuwei. At present, there is a lack of relevant data on the spatial patterns of Wuwei. The analysis of the spatial morphological characteristics is an effective way to explore the protection and control of the ancient city of Wuwei. |
