Delay Analysis Of Variable Approach Lane With Main And Pre- Signal Control At Isolated Intersections

In the urban road network, signal control intersection is very common, and it is a part of the urban road. Because of signal intersection, the city road traffic flow becomes discontinuous. Studies have shown that in the city road network delay at signalized intersections is much larger than the link delay, delay is an important index for the evaluation of intersection service level. In order to make rational use of the time and space resources at intersections, many scholars studied the variable lane but there is little research on the delay of variable lane analysis. The accurate analysis of variable lane intersection delay is the premise of the analysis of the implementation of variable lanes.In this paper, the delay of the variable lane intersection of the main and pre signal coordinated control is analyzed, the relationship of the main and pre signal and the profit and loss of the delay in the process function conversion is analyzed. The regular of arrival departure the process during the variable lane by the direct conversion straight turn into left and left turn into was studied, and divided the vehicles arrive form into the two states of platoon and non-platoon. Establish the delay formula of variable lane conversion process. Through the case analysis, studied the influence of different vehicles arrival rate, the proportion of vehicles arrives during the green time, the vehicles arrive form of the platoon and non-platoon. It is showed that the delay of the variable lane change process is not negligible in the variable lane change process. Illustrate the application of the conclusions of this study and the profit and loss of the variable lane function conversion can be obtained through the judgment of the variable lane threshold.This study obtained the regular of arrival departure of the intersection, establish the formula of the delay profit and loss in the process function conversion, the delay of the conversion process of variable lane by using the delay model. The evaluation index of variable lane function by threshold calculation and the conclusion that the delay of variable lane is not negligible can be obtained.
