Research On Settlement Renewal In Wujiadian,Jinzhai

With the rapid urbanization nowadays, rural settlement renewal and practice in China ushered in a hitherto unknown development opportunity. Research on rural characteristics and inheritance methods meet contention of a hundred schools of thought. However, there are also a considerable number of ordinary villages, of which the traditional features failed to arouse attention. And in the process of automatic renewal, traditional settlement space and residence monomers are badly saved, leaving the original styles difficult to be cognitive, leading to the loss of features on the lack of scientific research and guidance.Wujiadianzhen located in Dabie Mountain hinterland, is the border town of China’s famous general county, Jinzhai. The rural settlement with the accumulation of history and culture as well as local features, are rarely given attention academically. By the construction opportunity of Jinzhai Huarun hope town, this paper investigates the status and history of villages in Wujiadianzhen and restores various stages of the features, to summarize laws of their evolution and the regional characteristics from the dynamic point of view. And then the paper combines them with the adaption to modern production and living needs to put forward strategies of how to inherit rural spatial characteristics. The research is an important component of the prophase study of Jinzhai Huarun hope Town project and lay the foundation for the protection plan of the local villages, hoping to provide a reference for future research of common settlement.The thesis consists of four parts: the first chapter introduces related theory and practice of rural settlement and its renewal to summarize the research methods and successful experience; the second chapter analyses the environment and the background of villages in Wujiadianzhen, and develops a global awareness of the current situation; the third and the four chapter based on the field investigation analyse the evolution of the rural settlement and summarize the characteristics of the settlements, groups and living cells; finally, the fifth chapter discusses the combination methods of hope town planning and the inheritance of rural characteristics.
