In a deeper reform and opening up, the model of urban-rural interaction was put forward. which also accelerated the urbanization in Beijing. Mentougou area creates a rapid progress with the location advantage as it is so near to the city center. There are so many traditional villages in Mentougou area. Some of them turn to develop tourism industry as they have natural and historical resources. Some of them which are within the scope of the new town planning speed up the village evolution. During the development of urban and rural integration, urban and rural reinforce each other more and more closely and the villages’ motive force have been grew. But it also brings some survival crisis to traditional villages. Some traditional villages lost the feature of their spatial form, and the traditional buildings also been replaced by modern houses. On this occasion, this thesis tries to excavate the reason and method of spatial morphological development of traditional villages in the frame of urban-rural interaction in Beijing, under the background of urbanzation, which is serviceable to extend theoretical basis for spatial morphological protection and continuation of traditional villages.This paper contains six parts. The first chapter summarizes the development status of traditional villages and relative polity, which leads to the background and purpose of this research. By analysis the existing research, it puts forward the necessity of pay attention on study of the traditional villages in the frame of urban-rural interaction nowadays. The second chapter sets forth the historical development of traditional villages in Mentougou area. It reveals the close relationship between urban and traditional villages’ development. The third chapter expounds the urban-rural relationship, and differentiate traditional villages by it. Then a more particular analysis of the reason and obvious change trend situation has been summarized in a comprehensive view. The fourth chapter is lay stress on village overall spatial morphological development as well as the internal space like street space and courtyard space. And it also includes corresponding evaluates. According to the location and spatial morphological variation degree, the analysis in fifth chapter takes two typical traditional villages as case. Finally, the thesis has summarized the spatial morphological characteristics and development direction for traditional villages in the frame of urban-rural interaction, which is targeted to provide a instructive basis for the construction of traditional villages in the process of urbanization follow-up study.
