A Study On The Development Of University Auditorium

With the deepening and booming of higher education reform in China, the Chinese universities have expanded rapidly in terms of number and scale. The construction of college campus has been also carried out all over the country. As the time goes by, many college auditoriums in China have been subject to various degree of wear and tear as well as the low rate of utilization, thus failing to meet the requirement of new campus in terms of function and structure. As a large number of universities are in need of building or transforming the auditorium, it has become a topic of practical meaning to research the development of college auditorium architecture.As the second classroom for college students, the college auditorium has played an important role in promoting the higher education and enhancing the overall quality of college students in China. This paper has aimed to research the development of college auditorium architecture from the perspective of history. Besides making a comprehensive analysis on the evolution and feature of college auditorium during different stages, this paper has also provided some advice on how to design and create the space suited to the cultural and entertaining activities of college students. By analyzing the social, humanistic and economic factors influencing the development of college auditorium, this paper identified the problems existing in the development college auditorium and also offered some solutions. Through case study, this paper has summarized the development tendency of college auditorium architecture.
