| Xiangxi is an ancient and mysterious place with profound culture and has its special geographical location. As tourism developing nowadays, the unique glamour of Xiangxi District is known to people and more attention is paid to the local specialty industry. As constantly emerging into the market some local specialty products which are lacking in meaning and art value and have no bond to regional culture appear in the market. These products have shabby and duplicate packaging design. Some of them don’t have any design in packaging.There fore, it’s necessary for us to study the packaging design of Xiangxi’s local specialty products, to give rational suggestions and to propose the packaging design to return to its origin. Based on the understanding of regional culture and the type of folk art in Xiangxi, the mystery Xiangxi contains many types of folk art and Xiangxi has the most ethnic and local flavor of culture and art. The understanding of folk art can bring inspiration for specialty packaging design and absorb the essence from types of folk art design elements used in specialty packaging design, can make the local products packaging to be characteristic, meaningful and of taste, also can promote the taste of packaging design. By collecting information and on-site investigation in Xiangxi folk art elements in local specialty packaging design, I understand the current status of how art is used in the design of the packaging for local specialty products. Through some case studies and comparative analysis, its existing problems is pointed out, and to study the what improvement can be made in the design of Xiangxi’s local specialty products packaging design method, the necessity of adding folk art elements in the local products packaging, and the combination of regional culture and establish a Xiangxi’s specialty brand image, enhance Xiangxi specialty packaging design, improve its aesthetic value, meet consumers’ aesthetic requirements, influence and deeply impress consumers, find a new idea for specialty packaging design. At last, it is the conclusion of Xiangxi’s local products packaging, let the packaging of specialty products keep pace with the times, achieve what of the people is of the time, and reach Xiangxi’s local specialty products out to the world. |
