At present,more and more doings are conducted indoor,knowing the position of people in the environment clearly and the routes they will go are the most basic indoor needs.However,the indoor space environment is becoming more complex than before,people's navigation behaviors that depend on their own positioning ability are limited.Map as an external visualization of environment expands people's cognitive system ability.But,there is still a lack of unified indoor map design principles,and it exists two problems as follow: One)Most of studies start from cartographic theory,and lack the research on people's behavior and psychological factors;Two)The research can only solve unilateral problems and lack a good user experience.The navigation space cognitive theory indicates that the information density and path planning on map are the main factors that can affect navigation efficiency and cognitive load.Integrating navigation space cognitive theory into indoor spatial map design can tally with the cognitive habits of people in navigation and pathfinding,increase navigation efficiency,reduce cognitive load,and improve user experience.The research uses the psychological and behavior experiment.First,it identifies two main factors that can affect indoor map navigation efficiency and cognitive load--information(key information and full information)and path planning(with and without)by the research on navigation space cognitive theory.Then it proposes research hypotheses according to these two factors,designs experiments,and verifies experiment hypothesis by data result.Finally it discusses relevant factors and experimental conditions that can cause results error.The research conclusion as follows: One)The navigation efficiency of key information with path planning map is obviously better than full information without path planning map;Navigation efficiency of key information map is significantly better than full information map;Navigation efficiency of map with path planning is significantly better than map without path planning.Two)Cognitive load of full information without path planning map is significantly higher than key information with path planning map;There is no difference in cognitive load between full information map and key information map;The cognitive load of path planning map is much lower than map without path planning.Three)Information and path planning have no interaction effect on cognitive load either navigation efficiency.Four)Information affects women more than men in cognitive load,but men and women have no difference in navigation efficiency;Both on navigational efficiency and cognitive load,the impact of path planning on men is greater than women.Five)The relationship between path planning and navigation efficiency is entirely mediated by cognitive load.Ultimately,the thesis proposes four principles of indoor commercial spatial map design based on the experimental results,which are consistent with people's spatial cognitive habits,consistency,guiding,geometric,and decontamination.These principles break through the traditional creative patterns,and correspond with people's physiological cognitive habits either spiritual visual satisfaction.Research mode provides a new method for design and research.
