Groundwater has become one of the water sources for life,industrial and mining production and agricultural irrigation,due to the steady supplement,well quality and the outstanding ability to adjust reserves.At present,18%of the total water supply in China comes from groundwater,nearly 400 cities exploit groundwater,and more than300 cities have water shortages in different degrees.The lower Liao River Plain is the largest alluvial plain in Liaoning Province,and is also a collection center for surface water and groundwater,which is rich in water resources and has great potential for development.However,due to the fact that the area is located in the central urban agglomeration of Liaoning Province,with the developed industry,concentrated population is,and the large demand of water,the sustainable utilization of groundwater resources has become an important guarantee for urban development.Therefore,it is very important to study the dynamic characteristics of groundwater resources in the Lower Liao River Plain.In this paper,the characteristics of the groundwater level in Quaternary loose rock formations have been determined through the analysis of groundwater monitoring data from 2006 to 2016 in the lower Liao River Plain.The dynamics characteristics of groundwater in the lower Liao River Plain can be divided into four types:river-hydrology,meteorological-agriculture,meteorological,and industrial explore-meteorological.The general pattern of shallow groundwater level in the region gradually decreases from the west to the east and decreases from the north to the south.Comprehensively collect groundwater prospecting data in the Lower Liao Plain,analyze regional hydrogeological conditions,and use the water-equilibrium method to calculate the water quantity of the Quaternary shallow groundwater,and draw a conclusion that total groundwater recharge of the Lower Liao River Plain from 2006to 2016 It was 556.58×108 m~3,and the total discharge was 529.23×108m~3.The storage volume increased.In 2006,2007,2009,2014 and 2015,respectively,it was a dry year,and the groundwater level was generally reduced which showed a negative equilibrium.In most of the other years,the groundwater level increased and was positively equilibrium.A numerical simulation for Quaternary shallow groundwater flow in the lower Liao River Plain was established by the use of Visual MODFLOW software to simulate the dynamic evolution of groundwater under the conditions of implementation of the“Overall Plan of the Province's Closed Groundwater Intake Project”and predicts the groundwater level during the wet period of the region in2020.By 2020,the Quaternary shallow groundwater level in the plains of the lower Liao River Plain is basically stable.The average water level is 15.18m.Compared with the wet season in 2017,the groundwater level has increased by 0.58m.
