The family Coenobitidae and Paguridae belong to group of Anomuran,is an important marine benthic.Coenobitidae distributed from tropical and temperate regions,Paguridae generally widely distributed in the global waters except the Polar Regions.Coenobita generally inhabit from supratidal zone to internal, living in the coral reef rock cave, seabeach and rocks off the coast.Paguridae widely distributed from internal to within 2000 meters of the water, living in the rock cracks,muddy-sand bottom and coral reef,in symbiosis with the sponge and sea anemone. There are few studies on the taxonomy of the Coenobitidae and Paguridae, only few species were described before.Based on the specimens deposited in the Marine Biological Museum(MBM)of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and museum of National Taiwan Ocean University(NTOU),a comprehensive research on the taxonomy of the family Coenobitidae and Paguridae from China seas was made. The present study revealed that there were 1 genera including 2 species in Coenobitidae and 15 genera including 43 species in Paguridae, including 4 new species: Alainopaguroides sinensis,Turleania sinensis,Pagurus liui and Spiropagurus monospinosus,8 species were recorded for the first time in China seas.Pseudopagurodes reconditus(Wang et Mc Laughlin,2000)has been inferred to a synonym of Nematopaguroides reconditus Wang et Mc Laughlin;Pagurus filholi(De Man,1887)has been inferred to a synonym of Pagurus geminus McLaughlin,1976;Boninpagurus pilosipes(Stimpson,1858)has been inferred to a synonym of Pagurus pilosipes(Stimpson,1858);Pagurus constans(Stimpson,1858)has been inferred to a synonym of Pagurus sagamiensis Miyake,1978;Lophopagurus triserratus(Ortmann,1892)has been inferred to a synonym of Australeremus triserratus(Ortmann,1892).Detailed morphological descriptions, distributions and illustrations of all species were provided.Key to Chinese genera and species were given.Discussions on taxonomic problems and distribution characteristics were made.
