Research On Symbol Style Conversion Methods From MapInfo To ArcGIS

Map symbol is the main means for visual expression to express geographic information,but in the MapInfo and ArcGIS of the two different GIS platform,geographic information stored in different formats,both in the process of data conversion,graphic symbol style information is lost,so in order to maintain data integrity,need to restore interactive graphics symbol style settings.This paper analyzes the style attribute and corresponding relation symbols Maplnfo and ArcGIS,using MapBASIC and ArcGIS Engine development technology,to achieve a complete conversion of MapInfo to ArcGIS data interoperability.The symbol style mainly from the following four aspects:(1)The MapInfo and ArcGIS in various types of symbols of the corresponding relationship and setting methods.(2)Using the MapBASIC tool to access the MapInfo layer style information,modify the tab file table structure to increase the style information field,the way to save the style information.(3)Using the Engine ArcGIS related interface to read the layer of the style information,set the style of the method.(4)The system of symbol style conversion is implemented Using MapBASIC and C#,based on MapInfo and ArcGIS Engine.This paper realizes the transformation of the mode of development is less difficult,easy to grasp and implement,it can provide reference for the transformation of the geo related multi-source heterogeneous data conversion graphics symbols.
