As urbanization is accelerating, more and more people will live in cities and the environment of the cities will become increasingly complex. The key point of the high quality network coverage is that how to visualize the complex electromagnetic environment of the base station in cities. As the most important means of expression and the core technology of complex electromagnetic environment, it will provide a basis for decision-making in related applications such as network coverage.The goal of this article is to research and develop the related software platform to predict the complex electromagnetic environment of the3D cities. It is based on the ArcGIS Engine platform and uses the ray tracing theory, the.NET and COM component-based development techniques to do the research of complex electromagnetic environment. Firstly, it develops the three-dimensional digital map interface which can import the*.dxf format map for the urban electromagnetic environment, which solves the problem of traditional manual database. Secondly, it uses the reverse ray tracing to finish the path searching and field strength calculation for the modeling of complex electromagnetic environment, which has the ray path drawing and energy rendering of the direct, reflection and diffraction. Simultaneously, the article proposes a method of diffraction computing that can improve the accuracy of operation. Finally, this article uses the data generated by this platform to compare with the data generated by the Wireless Insite developed by the Remcom of US. The results show that this platform and Wireless Insite have the similar electromagnetic energy and the jitter situation in the same scene, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the electromagnetic environment visualization platform of this paper.The research results develop a new way of thinking for the domestic three-dimensional visualization technology of complex electromagnetic environment when comparing with the other visualization technology such as surface rendering etc. It lays the platform foundation for the network coverage of wireless communication and interference analysis field.
