The genus Basalys Westwood, 1833 belongs to the tribe Diapriini of the subfamily Diapriinae(Hymenoptera, Diapriidae). Currently it comprises 140 species, and distributes in the Afrotropical, Australian, Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Palearctic Regions. Some species parasitized on some Diptera insects, which indicating potential of being applied in biological control programmes. In Palearctic Region, 82 species have been reported. In Oriental Region, 17 species have been reported, but there is not any species of this genus has been recorded from China before this study.This thesis has reviewed the history and taxonomic development of Basalys in detail through examing specimens from Yunnan, China. 42 spcies are present in this thesis, of which, 24 species new to science, 18 new recorded species to China. The new species and new records are listed as below:New species: Basalys brevicula sp. nov., B. clara sp. nov., B. ensformis sp. nov., B.fusa sp. nov., B. huanghuaensis sp. nov., B. insculpta sp. nov., B. leleji sp. nov., B. lembodes sp. nov., B. lucida sp. nov., B. magna sp. nov., B. metisi sp. nov., B. phoeba sp.nov., B.pinnata sp. nov., B. prolixa sp. nov., B. pulchra sp. nov., B. radiata sp. nov., B. rata sp. nov.,B. riparia sp. nov., B. rufa sp. nov., B. sinensis sp. nov., B. titani sp. nov., B. tonitra sp. nov.,B. venusi sp. nov., B. yangi sp. nov..Species new to China: Basalys abrupta Thomson, 1858; B. besucheti Huggert, 1982; B.bifoveata(Kieffer, 1911); B. chotti Rajmohana & Narendran, 2006; B. cymocles Nixon,1980; B. exigua(Marshall, 1868); B. exsul(Kieffer, 1913); B. formicarum(Kieffer, 1911);B. longipennis(Kieffer, 1911); B. luzonica(Kieffer, 1914); B. macroptera(Kieffer, 1911);B. orion Nixon, 1980; B. pedisequa(Kieffer, 1911); B. rufocincta(Kieffer, 1911); B. semele Nixon, 1980; B. tetratoma(Kieffer, 1913); B. tripartita Marshall, 1868; B. tritoma Thomson, 1858.All species are detailed described inheren, The key to species are provided. All the examined materials are deposited in Hymenoptera Collection of Shouth China Agricultural Unversity.
