The species of Aphelinidae(Hymenoptera:Chalcidoidea)are important parasitoids mainly on aphids, coccids and aleyrodids, which are economically important pests. There are about1400 described species worldwide while about 260 have been found in China. This taxonomic study on Aphelinidae was carried out based on the morphological characters through the examination of nearly 4000 specimens,of which about 300 were slide-mounted specimens. These materials were mainly collected by myself and group members using the methods of sweeping, yellow pan trapping,Malaise trapping or host rearing. The thesis includes 5 chapters. In the first chapter, taxonomic history and current taxonomic notes abroad and domestic were introduced.Chapter 2 introduce the material and methods.Chapter 3 contains general morphology of the family and classification system which the present thesis followed.Chapter 4 is taxonomic descriptions,in which a key to all the known genera of Aphelinidae from China were given and 43 species of 8 genera were reviewed, including 11 new species:Aphelinus maculigaster Chen&Li,sp.nov.,A.pseudonepalensis Chen&Li,sp.nov.,A.truncaticlavus Chen&Li,sp.nov.,Centrodora shangzhiensis Li&Chen,sp.nov.,C.crassiscapa Li&Chen,sp.nov.,C.longiclava Li&Chen,sp.nov.,C.pellucida Li&Chen,sp.nov.,Coccophagus distinctus Li&Chen,sp.nov.,C.tenebrisetus Li&Chen,sp.nov.,C.breviscapus Li&Chen,sp.nov.,Pteroptrix pedicellata Li&Chen,sp.nov.;and 12 new country record species:Aphelinus meghalayanus Hayat,A.maculatus Yasnosh,A.sharpae Hayat,A.humilis Mercet,A.huberi Hayat,A.japonicus Ashmead,Centrodora bifasciata Hayat,C.livens(Walker),Coccobius luteolus(Yasnosh),Coccophagus(Polycocccophagus)insidiator(Dalman),C.lutescens Compere,C.flavifrons Howard;and also include new discoveries of males of 3 species:Centrodora livens(Walker),Coccophagoides kuwanae(Silvestri)and Pteroptrix processa(Huang).Keys to Chinese species of Aphelinus,Centrodora and Coccophagus were given, and morphological character for all the genera and species were described and photographed in detail, together with complete citations, host and distributional data. The last chapter is conclusions and discussions. The present study aims at providing some basic references in identification of aphelinid species, enriching natural enemy resources and biodiversity of China, and also at providing guidance of biological control on agricultural and forestry pests. All the type specimens were deposited at insect collections of Northeast Forestry University(NEFU),Harbin,China.
