A Tribe Hyophileae (Pottiaceae,Bryophyta) In Mongolian Plateau

Pottiaceae Hampe.is the largest family in Bryophyta,with 83 genera and 1500 species in the world.Hyophileae M.Fleisch.,represented by approximately 18 genera and 296 species,is a tribe of Pottioideae Broth.in the family Pottiaceae Hampe.,and it is an important component of the moss flora in temperate arid and semi-arid regions.This study selects Inner Mongolia in China and Mongolia,the main part of Mongolian Plateau,as the study area.Based on relevant literature and examing specimen of HIMC,UBA,MO and KUN,this taxonomy study of Hyophileae M.Fleisch.in Mongolian Plateau has been carried out.The main results are as follows:1.There are 8 genera,25 species and 2 varieties of Hyophileae plants in the Mongolian plateau.Weissia exserta(Broth.)P.C.Chen.,W.edentula Mitt.,W.newcomeri(E.B.Bartram)K.Saito.and Molendoa sendtneriana var.yunnanica Gy?rffy.are reported as new records in Mongolia.The genus Weisiopsis Broth.and Hyophila Brid.are only distributed in Inner Mongolia.13 species(including varieties)are found in both Inner Mongolia of China and Mongolia.There are 11 species only occurred in Inner Mongolia of China,while Weissia exserta(Broth.)P.C.Chen.,Stegonia pilifera(Brid.)H.A.Crum & L.E.Anderson.and Crossidium squamiferum var.pottioideum(De Not.)M?nk.are in Mongolia.Weissia brachycarpa(Nees & Hornsch.)Jur.and W.condensa(Voit)Lindb.are excluded from Hyophileae M.Fleisch.of this study area.There is no material of Hyophila spathulata(Harv.)A.Jaeger.and Weissia semipallida(Voit)Lindb.available for the present study,thus,these species are treated as doubtful records.2.Taxonomically significant characteristics within the genus of Hyophileae M.Fleisch.in the study area include: states when the leaves are dry,leaf shape,leaf KOH color reaction,curving direction of leaf margins,the presence or absence of photosynthesis filaments or lamellae,costa at the leaf apex and the transverse section of it,upper and middle laminal cells,the shape of papillae,the length of seta,the presence or absence of peritome teeth,etc.Based on the above characteristics,the updated key to the tribe are compiled,detailed morphological descriptions,morphological anatomical micrographs and discussions are provided.3.Aloina Kindb.and Weissia Hedw.have more species in this tribe,and there are great difficulties in classification and identification of these species.In this study,the gametophytes and sporophytic characteristics of these two genera have been observed and analyzed in detail.The main characteristics of genus Aloina Kindb.are: leaf shape,leaf KOH color reaction,leaf apex and leaf margins,terminal cells of photosynthesis filaments,transverse section of costa,peristome teeth,spores,etc.The diagnosis characteristics of the genus Weissia Hedw.are: leaf shape,leaf apex and leaf margins,transverse section of costa,capsule,peristome teeth,etc.
