Research On The Performance Evaluation Of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Based On DEA

Guangxi Beibu Gulf port has made great progress since its inception, in the construction of pier, berth construction, harbour construction, cargo throughput and container throughput etc. As a platform for the exchange of substance and information with the outside world, the development of Guangxi Beibu Gulf port not only to promote the development of port industry, trade and tourism and other related industries, for the economic development of Guangxi area provides support, for the economic development of southwest area have made a contribution. But as in recent years the world economy remains weak, China’s economy is experiencing throes of transformation of economic development, economic development has entered a new normal, Guangxi Beibu Gulf port’s cargo throughput and container throughput growth rate are significantly reduced. This paper is the use of Malmquist index of data envelopment analysis method, from 2009 to 2014 in Guangxi Beibu Gulf port under the three harbor 6 years of their performance evaluation. Using BCC model of data envelopment analysis(DEA), to 2014 the cargo throughput ranked top 15(Guangxi Beibu Gulf port ranked 15th) port carries on the crosswise contrast analysis, comparative analysis of the gap between Guangxi Beibu Gulf port and other top 14 port. Through the analysis of empirical results, the Guangxi Beibu Gulf port’s construction is efficient, but the Guangxi Beibu Gulf port relative to other ports are inefficient, and is at the stage of decreasing returns to scale. The main reason is that Guangxi Beibu Gulf port area of the backward economic development especially in traffic infrastructure is backward, not enough to support the rapid development of Guangxi Beibu Gulf port. Finally, the author from the development of the Guangxi Beibu Gulf economic hinterland, accelerating the Beibu Gulf in Guangxi where the regional transport infrastructure construction, reasonable use of the national policy, information construction and talent team construction put forward reasonable suggestions. In order to improve the efficiency of the northern Gulf of Guangxi in the future, better support for the economic and social development in the southwest region.
