Qingshuijiang River basin has long been the famous artificial forest in southern China. Jinping county, located in downstream area of Qingshuijiang Riverm, is referred to as “the hometown of Chinese fir”. It has a history of artificial timber industry for more than five hundred years. Since the middle of Ming Dynasty, with the rise and development of timber trade in Qingshuijiang River basin, this area has formed a relatively mature relationship of forestry production to the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. The artificial timber industry has become the main production means for people of the Qingshuijiang River region. And also formed a social interpersonal relationships of distribution of revenue.The frequent forestry tenancy, trading and distribution of revenue in family and so on, formed a contract documents, which gradually formed a unique contract culture of Qingshuijiang River basin. Up to now, local residents also have these contract documents.These contract documents are involved in the distribution of revenue among families, family members and even villages. So the local people cherish the documents most. It is not only the proof to clear the economic interests, but also an important means to maintain the stable development of artificial timber industry among families, family members or villages. After the contract was found, many scholars’ attention was attracted. However, most scholars focus on the history, contents, customary law, disputes, forest management and so on. There is few analysis of artificial timber industry which reflect the social relations and the management and development of forest region in Qingshuijiang River basin.Therefore, this study selected Wendou village, Hekou Township, Jinping County as the field point. Based on the structural functionalism theory, this paper tyies to analyse how the distribution of revenue referred in the documents affect the artificial timber industry of Qingshuijiang River basin. By clarifying peoples’ relationships of distribution of revenue in the documents. it can sort out the social relations and system mechanism of the management and stable development of the artificial timber industry, and objectively analyse the significance of distribution of revenue in the contract to the local residents. Thus, it can make up the defects and the insufficiency for modern state forestry policies, laws and regulations.
