Study On Using The International Timber Resources For The Timber Industry In Zhejiang Province

As the major source and special commodity , timber resources plays a key role in national economic development. In the last few years, with a sustained, rapid and steady development of China's national economy, people's demands of the quality of life are continually increasing, and their demands tends to be more diversified. In the construction industry, interior decoration as well as furniture manufacturing, the demand for timber is more rapidly growing, and every parts faces a significant increase in the demand. However, on one side, from the long-term development strategy, in order to achieve sustainable use of resources and protection of ecological environment, the country of departure has implement a national natural forest protection project, which further enlarge timber scarce. The strong demand of timber grows rapidly in China, while the domestic timber supply can not meet the basic needs of national economy, and the gap between supply and demand will be further widen. On the other side, As a result of the environmental protection consciousness enhancing, many countries starts to formulate and to appear the corresponding policy to limit timer exportation and joins the forest authentication system gradually. In certain degree it has had the pressure to our timer import,and the accelerative development of industrialization of China will be tremendously impacted. Therefore, China's timber industry"going out" and using international timber resources to satisfy domestic demand and the pursuit of self-development has become an indisputable fact.As China's developed province especially in timber industry, Zhejiang occupy an important position in the development of China's timber industry. Therefore strategies and measures has to be researched for the development of Zhejiang timber industry to cope with this challenge.Firstly, this paper briefly reviews status and achievements of timber industry in Zhejiang, analyses its experience and prospects, and identify prominent issues on using international timber resources. Secondly, the demands and supply of timber in Zhejiang timber industry has been specifically and thoroughly analysed, then the necessity of using international timber resources for Zhejiang timber industry has been pointed out. It has also analyses internal and external advantage and disadvantage of using international timber resources for Zhejiang timber industry, in order to get a clear understanding of opportunities and challenges faced by timber industry. Finally, this paper has proposed the Strategy of establishing timber resources for Zhejiang timber industry using international and measures to ensure the smooth implementation of the security system.
