With the continuous development of China’s market economy and the constant deepening opening to the outside world, meanwhile considering the "one road one belt" policy in recent years, implementing the "going out" strategy, more and more state-owned electric power companies are involved in the domestic and overseas market competition. After experiencing a leapfrog development, a large number of state-owned electric power companies have stepped into the low-profit era, which leads to the bottleneck of the extensive management. In order to develop sustainably, it is necessary for the companies to standardize and improve the system of management and processes. Focusing on the definition and characteristics of Process, this essay shows a hierarchical analysis of Progress. It claims that the operation and management of a company is the process of resource readjustment and strategy implementation, otherwise the process system becomes the key of the operation and management of the whole company. In addition, this essay identifies the logical relationship among the Process, Process Management, Process Re-engineering and Process Improvement. Furthermore, it discusses the disadvantages of Process Re-engineering and the necessity of Process Improvement.Based on the features of electrical power companies, this essay also proposes a three-stage process for improving the management process of electrical power companies, stating the matters needing attention in the following stages:pre-planning stage, implementation stage and process closing stage.Seeking for further research of process analysis and improvement in electric power companies, due to requirements for authenticity, convenience and comprehensiveness of the research data, this essay chooses a state-owned electric power group and its power plants as its objects. With the combination of theoretical study and working practice, this essay is discussing the deficiencies of process management and the room for improvement in state-owned electric power companies, with the view to not only the management but the techniques.
