With nearly 30years development of basic economic, the equipment configuration of China’s equipment manufacture industry constantly become large-scale and modernized, but the principles of equipment management mostly remain at the level of 1980s of foreign industry, which barely can adapt to the demand of development for modern enterprise. Some forward-looking enterprises have already sought the advanced principles and methods of equipment management, tried to establish brand-new philosophy and system of equipment management, use professional management methods to systematic solve problems existing in the equipment management, to ensure the equipment in good running status, to ensure product quality and reduce the running cost and strengthen core competition in enterprises.This article, taking Dongfang Turbine Corporation, which is a heavy equipment enterprise based on discrete manufacturing characteristics, as the research object, conducts a thorough investigation mainly focus on equipment operating personnel, equipment administrative staff and present situation in equipment management; studies the Machine Features and management defect of Dongfang Turbine; indicates the significance of total productive maintenance (TPM_Total Productive Maintenance), which is an important part of Lean Manufacturing, applied in DongFang Turbine. By studying management theory, applied technology of TPM, Combining with the enterprise’s own manufacture characteristics, the article has specifically discussed the TPM application in DTC. By establishing institutional framework, setting management objectives and assessment system, and conduct specific TPM activity, all these measures update staff’s management principle, promote overall quality of enterprise personnel, reduce the waste, greatly improve our processing equipment utilization and created considerable economic benefits for enterprise, exploring the TPM application method that can be used for reference by heavy equipment manufacturing enterprises in our country.
