Since the 1960 s, As the global industrial structure transforming gradually from “industrial-based economy”to“service-oriented economy”, residents’ consumption level in developed countries rising constantly and service consumption structure continually optimizing, developed countries took the lead in entering the service consumption- predominant age. Besides, developing countries including China, also have entered the period of upgrading service industry development fast. Under this background, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China released the “Guiding opinions on accelerating the development of the life of service to promote the upgrading of consumption structure” and “Guiding opinions on developing the effect of new consumption and positively transforming new consumption into new supply and driver” in November 2015, which deployed consumption upgrading jobs, proposed “to increase the effective supply of services, expand service consumer demand, accelerate the development of life of service”,the country hope to promote and lead the industrial developing through promoting consumption from both sides of the supply and demand. At present, Per Capita GDP of Guangdong Province has exceeded 10000 dollars, there is still much room for developments of the service consumption gross expense and service consumption structure, compared with other countries and areas in the similar level of economy development. Besides, regional differences in development of service consumption in Guangdong Province are also very significant, the service consumption of Pearl River Delta(PRD) maintains a dominant position in the market, while the other regions seriously lag behind. In order to narrow the regional economic differences, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall level of economic in Guangdong Province, it is significant to strengthen researches on the regional differences in consumption of services and promote unbalanced but common development of the consumption of services. This thesis, based on the combing of research results about consumption of services at home and abroad, divides the stages of service consumption development both in urban and rural areas in Guangdong Province. At the same time, it researches on residents’ service consumption trends and features from cross section and time series using normative analysis, points out that residents’ service consumption still has much room for development in Guangdong Province, analyzes the regional differences of total consumption of services and service consumption structure among PRD, eastern, western and northern Guangdong. Through qualitative analysis of the factors affecting the regional differences in service consumption, the thesis still uses the Panel Data model to study the main factors. Thus we find that: urban residents’ consumption expenditure for services exists consistent trend in western area and northern Guangdong, the difference between cities is small, while there are great individual differences on turban residents’ service consumption in the pearl river delta region and the eastern region. Service consumption tendency in PRD is the largest, the gaps with the other regions are significant; income is the most important influenced factors of urban residents’ service consume in different areas in Guangdong Province; the early stage of the consumption in PRD and eastern area is not significant, but shows obvious "ratchet effect" in the north and western areas; the influences on metastatic income are different in four regions, hardly significant on the eastern and western areas, but significant on PRD and the northern area. To solve these problems above, this paper puts forward some policies and suggestions to promote the further development of the service consumption in Guangdong Province.
