| In the 1960s, the phenomenon of mutual trade between the countries exporting and importing the same goods firstly appeared in developed country trade, it has been unable to explain this to use traditional international trade theory. Against this background, the emergence of intra-industry trade theory get continuous attention and the change of patterns of international trade, the inter-industry trade diverse to intra-industry trade, have become increasingly evident.Since China’s reform and opening, the trade volume of China-US is growing; the range of trade increasingly broad and the trade within the industry has also become increasingly common. According to the classification criteria "International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and System", in UN COMTRADE database data, the largest volume of trade between the two countries in 2015 is the category of HS-85, namely electronic products. Thus, the study of this new trade model in the China-US electronic products trade has important practical significance to promote the development of China’s electronics industry.The introduction of this article firstly introduces the background and significance of this papers and the content, methods and innovation of research, and it review the domestic and foreign study of intra-industry trade from the perspective of experience, theoretical and empirical literature; Secondly, in theory part of this paper the concept of intra-industry trade is briefly described, and highlights the intra-industry measure of trade (including trade competitiveness index, Balasa index, the GL index and marginal intra-industry index) and classification (including GHM classification, FFP classification and AR classification), and the intra-industry trade is divided into vertical intra-industry trade and horizontal intra-industry trade; Secondly, in status section to analysis the current development of China-US electronic products intra-industry; Then in the empirical part, this paper study factors affecting China-US intra-industry trade in the electronic products industry, according to the characteristics of the current situation in the China-US electronic products intra-industry trade and the availability of data, it select the China-US differences of per capita income, market size differences, electronics industry endowment differences, openness and foreign direct investment as an explanatory variable in the empirical analysis, and use regression analysis of econometric model to find the influence level of these variables for China-US electronic products intra-industry trade. We found that the China-US electronics industry endowment differences and international direct investment are correlated positively with the level of China-US electronic products intra-industry trade, while the China-US differences of per capita income and market size are correlated negatively with the level of China-US electronic products intra-industry trade; Finally, according to the theoretical part and the empirical results, this paper make relevant policy recommendations to promote the development of China-US electronic products intra-industry trade, and ultimately promote the development of China-US bilateral trade. |
