With the rapid development of our social economy, various client segmentations, diversified activities and normalized projects make China M.1. C. E. tourism industry a market of broad scale. The rise of MICE Industry has enhanced service enterprises flourish in fields of meetings, exhibitions, public relationships and events etc. With low entry cost, M. I. C. E. SMEs are the majority of this industry. Through over ten years’rapid development, it’s growing up towards maturity period when threats and opportunities exist at a time. MICE service products have characteristics such as the intangibility inseparability, cannot touch, not storability. SMEs in MICE industry should be alert all the time, adjust the strategy timely, expect and react to change, and survival in the nick market. Contingency management is to adjust management method of enterprise with the change of the macro environment, industrial environment and organization environment. As the contingency theory came into China a little bit late, there are very few studies about enterprises in the 21st century emerging MICE tourism industry. Contingency management theory is quite suitable for pioneering M. I. C. E. tourism SMEs. If one can use the theory properly, it would improve their business management greatly and achieve the goal of enterprise.This paper mainly consists of seven parts as follows.The first part is the introduction. Through industrial data analysis and literature review, I try to explain the background of this research, carry out the research design, primary contents, research framework methods of the research, and to find out the importance and innovations.The second part is literature review. By sorting out both domestic and abroad literature overview, the related concepts are defined and the research significance is theoretically and practically.The third part is the analysis of macro-environment force on MICE Tourism SMEs’contingency management. Macro-environment factors could orient enterprise management and operation.The fourth part is the analysis of industrial environment force on MICE Tourism SMEs’contingency management. Industrial environment is the guidance for corporate positioning. It is the important factors for contingency management that affect operation capability, earning capacity.The fifth part is the analysis of internal organization environment force on MICE Tourism SMEs’contingency management. The developing situation of enterprises could be different even though they face the same macro-environment and industrial environment. The internal organization environmental factors play a critical role in corporate earning capacity, operation capability, development capability and development trend.The sixth part is the case study of Contingency management theory usage in M. I. C. E. tourism SMEs. By using method of interview and comparative analysis, I analyze both internal and external environment of case company and try to find out the importance of contingency management in MICE tourism SMEs.The last part of article is the summary of importance and inspiration. By research into the macro-environment, industrial environment and organization environment, this article finds out the core of MICE Tourism SMEs’contingency management is to seek the balance between environmental variables and management variables. The essence is based on the reality. And keep learning and practicing is the key to success.The paper is a summary of my 6-year working experience. Hope it would be useful for entrepreneurial people, practitioners and students.
