Analysis Of Labor Mobility On The Impact Of Regional Economic Disparity In China

With the economic system reform after the reform and opening up as well as the policy of labor mobility gradually loosing,a wave of labor mobility is forming in China.The direction of labor mobility is mostly from central ? western and north-eastern areas to eastern area,making regional economic development disparity gradually expanded.In response to the imbalance of regional economic,policy such as “development of the Western region”?“the rise of central China” ?“The revitalization of Northeastern old industrial base” and so on support developing regions,promoting regional economic coordination development,thus labor mobility scale slowed,and the return trend was obvious.The paper first describe and analyze the current situation of china's labor mobility,and using Thiel index analyze the change trend of regional economic development disparity from 1978 to 2015 at different stage,using grey associated degree analysis method reveal the relationship between labor mobility and regional economic development.Then apply empirical method to find out the impact of labor mobility on regional economic disparity using the provincial panel data from 2000 to 2015.Finally based on theoretical and empirical analysis,give some policy recommendations for different regions.The main conclusions of this paper is as follows:First,the trend of Labor mobility growth in recent years is that the growth has slowed,labors had returning trend,and the regional gap of the direction of mobility was significant.The gender of labor was imbalanced,the new generation of labor became the main force,the secondary education was main education,gender and age differences made occupational distribution having difference.Second,using Thiel index analyzed the change trend of regional economic development disparity from 1978 to 2015 at different stage,the conclusion is that the regional economic development disparity first decrease,then increase,and then decrease,as the “N” type trend.Internal-Regional economic disparity is the main cause of china's economic disparity,especially in eastern and Western areas.Third,using grey associated degrees analysis method analyzed the relationship between labor mobility and GDP.The conclusion is that the associated degree of inter-provincial labors and GDP is more than labors which flow in the province and GDP.Then divided China into four regions to calculate the associated degree in four regions,the conclusion is that associated degree of inter-provincial labors' mobility and GDP was increased from 2000 to 2010.Last,Select Thiel index(t)as dependent variable,labor flow rate(Lm)as Independent variable,stock of human capital(Edu),material capital accumulation(Inv),urbanization level(City)and financial expenditure(Fin)as control variable,building panel data model for empirical analysis,the conclusion obtained is as follows: first,in Eastern and Central areas,the labor flow narrowed the regional economic gap,in Western and Northeastern areas,labor flow expanded the regional economic gap.Secondly,the accumulation of human capital and the raise of the level of urbanization played an important role in promoting China's economic growth.
