At present, many domestic auto parts enterprises realize the importance of information technology in enterprise management, have launched ERP system. There are also many auto parts enterprises who supplying the Japanese car manufactures especially Toyota, also saw the Kanban pull production system bring benefits, apply it in their production. But in general enterprises think the ERP is kind of push production system suitable for mass production and Kanban JIT pull production system to multi varieties and small batch production. They are incompatible. So few enterprises are trying to combine the two together and make it a successful story. The reason is that ERP system can calculate precisely the material requirement planning(MRP) with input of Customer Forecast, Bill of materials(BOM) and accurate inventory data. Moreover it can modify and feedback information according to the change of real situation. The Kanban pull production system will issue a “supplementary signal”, i. e. Kanban only when the material is physically consumed. Thus it is necessary to provide the supplier a long-term, rough material requirement planning. But the two are not contradictory, take Capacity Planning as an example, the MRP system can help people to transform Master Production Schedule into capacity planning, generating load report. Then according to the load report analysis results and feedback adjust the Master Production Schedule. Kanban is neither involved in the development of the Master Production Schedule, nor involved in generating capacity planning. Kanban pull production system realize the leveling of production through process design, equipment layout, people training thus to reduce dramatically the unbalance situation of capacity needs. Kanban can be quickly exposed to excess or insufficient capacity of the process or equipment, and then through continuous improvement to eliminate this problem.We hope that through this implementation of JIT Kanban Pull System and ERP Master Production Schedule in XF Company, which can bring certain reference value of scientific solutions to enhance the competitive edge for similar enterprises.
