Analysis Of Decoupling Relationships Between International Engineering Consulting And Contracting

There is much debate between the relationships of engineering consulting and project contracting, both of which belong to construction industry sectors. In recent years, with the accelerating of international construction market integration process, many multinational enterprises actively make use of leading and high added value of engineering consulting to expand the scale of project contracting. And the fact supports rare research materials for exploring the relationship between engineering consulting and engineering contracting.First of all, Based on the two decoupling models:OECD decoupling model and Tapio decoupling model, industrial decoupling analysis were made. Results showed that decoupling rules for which the international engineering consulting acting on the international engineering contracting are always existing: 1) In the international construction market, engineering consulting always has and will be a long time has coordinated growth effect on the engineering contracting. And when the economic is down, the consulting plays the most significant role in the decoupling law;2) The top 100 enterprises or called the top and medium enterprises in the research have stronger stability, so their regularity in decoupling performance is more obvious;3)The industry chain integration between the international engineering consulting and international engineering contracting is a gradual process,and the evolution of the industry chain integration conforms to the decoupling development chart.Secondly, to further confirm the decoupling rules,German Hochtief Company, American Flour Company and American Jacobs Group were respectively as the representative of three types of international construction enterprises, which were used for Case Study Research. Through case analysis, we found the three enterprise’growth histories were all conform to the decouplingrelationships; anddecoupling experiences of the cases were sum up.At last, based on the decoupling rules, decoupling experience, and Chinese construction enterprises’ dilemmas, the research put the industry chain integration between international engineering consulting and international engineering contracting as the direction, followed the rules of decoupling and expanded four propulsion phase’s strategy for our international construction enterprises "going out".To sum up, the results definite relations between the two major industries, and guide enterprises the new direction of industrial chain integration, provide them practical and feasible countermeasures of "going out". And the research shows a new study way that "across-industries and interdisciplinary”; diverse methods" models and case ", in-depth the lever that "market and enterprises", with multiple tests and specific results. It not only effectively makes up shorts of or the domestic and foreign study on the relationship between both industries, but also provides reliable achievements for academic researches and broadens a new space for industrial research.
