Inventory management is not only an important part of enterprise production, but also an important part of enterprise cost management. Compared with the general manufacturing enterprises, coal mining enterprises have the characteristics of more complex working environment and involves a wide variety of materials, and also has a high inventory cost and a difficult inventory management. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize material inventory for improving inventory management of coal mining enterprises. On the other hand, with the development of optimization theory, although many scholars have studied the optimization of inventory, but the research field of confined to manufacturing and retail, rarely involved in the coal industry, and the research on inventory optimization of coal industry is mainly coal products, it is less involved in the production of material. In this context, it has important theoretical and practical significance to study the optimization of the inventory of coal mining enterprisesFirstly, this paper analyzes the present situation of inventory management in coal enterprise material, which describes the current material inventory management model and the features in the current model. And discovered some questions like coal mining enterprises have high cost inventory, inventory turnover for a long time, materials classified irrational, unreasonable demand planning and other issues, the presence of coal mining enterprises find high inventory costs, inventory turnover for a long time, materials classified irrational, unreasonable purchasing plan and other issues. So this paper puts forward the overall inventory optimization idea: improve material classification--select inventory management strategy--build inventory optimization model.Secondly, according to the optimization idea, the author analysis the influence factors of coal mine material classification, and establishes the index system of influence factors of material classification. A new classification method has been built for coal mining enterprises based on Principal Components Analysis and ABC classification, the material is divided into A(the most important material), B(the more important material), C(general important material) three categories, and then determine the inventory management strategy according to the classification results.Thirdly, combining the three-echelon inventory system structure in coal mining enterprises and the knowledge of supply chain management, this paper constructs a multi-level inventory optimization model. The optimization model makes the inventory cost and inventory turnover time minimum as the objective function, and makes service level, inventory capacity, material limit and production constraints as the restriction condition. According to the characteristics of inventory optimization model, this article designs the solving steps using genetic algorithm based on MATLAB.Then, this paper takes HB coal mine as an example to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the optimization model. Combined with the research and the results of the optimization model, this article gives four suggestions. The first tip is to build models of supply chain inventory management of coal mine material, the second one is to formulate scientific and rational material procurement plan, the third one is to achieve material free allocation to reduce duplication of storage costs, and the last one is to strengthen information sharing of coal mining enterprises within and outside. Finally, this paper summarizes the main work, and analyzes the innovation points and limitation, also discusses the possible research direction in the future.
