With the continuous development of China, China has become the world’s largest automobile market; according to the statistic of the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers(CAAM), the number of domestic car manufacturers has reached 70. Because most of them plan to launch the turbocharged engine, there are more than 100 ongoing projects in B Company’s hand; besides, GM, VW, Ford and other international giants have launched their next generation turbocharged engines with additional new technology. Because of huge numbers of ongoing projects as well as lots of new technology, the product development process becomes an extremely complex, high risk activity.Based on the B company’s development process consisted of 4 phases(concept, performance, technology and process phase) and 6 quality gates,(OG1 EOT,QG2 项Project Plan & Specification, QG3 Release for A/R Submission,QG4 Product Design & Development Review,QG5 PPAP Release for PPAP,QG6 Release for SOP), the risk management process IAPMT(Risk Identification, Risk Assessment, Risk Prioritization, Risk Mitigation Planning and Risk Tracking) is introduced.During the research, the risk events are identified by each items which the project process is detailed to, then the risk events are analyzed with 2 dimensions: probabilities and consequences; the AHP tool is implemented to prioritize the risk events; the risk mitigation planning is settled down and the risk mitigation activities are continuous tracked by adding the action plan to the passing requirements of the project management process quality gates. These results establish a process and methodology with actual operation and also create a basis for future risk management for a new project as well as for subsequent in-depth study...
