Nowadays, because of the greenhouse gas emissions and energy supply tension make a low carbon economy in many countries in the world as the basic options of sustainable development. For China to develop low-carbon economy, we must cut use of fossil fuels, turned to use renewable energy. Coupled with the rapid development of the economic globalization and science and technology, the world faces a major adjustment of industrial structure, Industry international competition is increasingly fierce. For many developing countries, to improve the international competitiveness of renewable energy industry is the key to promote the economic strength ascension.This paper introduces the connotation of renewable energy, as well as customs codes based on China’s renewable energy industry classification.Then according to the classification of energy research center in the Netherlands, divide the renewable energy industry into biological energy, water energy, wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy and ocean energy, and classify the products with 6 HS codes, on this basis, introduce the trade development of China’s renewable energy industry, through the analysis of the import and export trade of China’s renewable energy industry status quo, it can be seen a good momentum of development of renewable energy industry in China, but the trade deficit and the extensive development mode against the development of renewable energy industry in China; Through the HS code classification of import and export situation of renewable energy industry, biological energy and water energy trade deficit for a long time, about the development direction of the two industries should attract attention.And then through the analysis of MSI, RCA, TC, MI, specific research the industry’s international competitiveness of renewable energy, to sum up:China’s solar energy and hydropower industry has a certain international competitiveness, wind energy, oceanic energy and geothermal energy industry international competitiveness; Finally through the analysis of the above, to improve the international competitiveness of China’s renewable energy industry, I suggest that:to establish resource assessment system、improve technology and innovation ability、set up a corresponding market protection、transformation the mode of extensive development, In order to provide reference for the healthy development of the renewable energy industry in China.
