Under the present economic tide, online travel, as an emerging sunrise industry,gradually shows its role in stimulating economic growth. With the rapid development oftourism, more and more countries and areas start to pay attention to the role of tourism ineconomic growth. Across the world, tourism market surges forward and tourism industry islong-time positive, which attract more and more entrepreneurs to stop. From the currentcircumstances, online travel is at the stage of development and reform, and the consumptionupgrade brings new service requirements and user experience. Especially with the rise ofmobile internet, this industry is facing a new round of shuffling, and mobile internetgradually becomes the new battlefields for all online travel service providers. With thecontinuous expansion of tourism market and the continuous development of online travelpenetration, the future of online travel is bright, but some online travel website leaders notonly set up competition barriers for “late-comers”, but also face a series of challenges andbottlenecks for their own development.This paper is divided into the following parts. First, it illustrates the relevant researchabout online tourism by scholars at home and abroad, and emphasizes the analysis of thedevelopment situations of online travel in China. Then, it concentrates on the composition ofthe profit model of Ctrip, and analyzes the operating situations of Ctrip from three aspects,including source of profit, customer value and business activities. After that, it appliesDuPont Analysis to analyze Ctrip’s use of financial leverage, profitability size, growthconditions according to its financial data in six years. At last, it studies the advantages ofCtrip’s present profit model, and appropriately predicts the future development of onlinetravel websites, hoping to offer the value of reference for the same-type websites.Through analysis and study, this paper reaches the conclusion: the price war amongonline travel service providers will continue, and low-priced dumping will still prevail;benefit from the huge gains from the hotel sector, online travel has dark wars frequently inthe hotel field, and all the websites pay more attention to the development of hotel business.With the coming of big data era, all the websites follow the example of Ctrip one afteranother, knowing the preference of customers in time and arranging the trip reasonably. Online travel competitors become more and more and competitive situations become moreand more complicated. A lot of online travel service providers integrate resources and fullyabsorb the most beneficial and useful ones.
