As a new device, E-commercehas been commonly used in cross-border trade duringthese years. Considering its tremendous and powerful impact on international trade, thefurther study about the applicationof e-commerce in the field of internationaltrademakes sense tosustainable growth of foreign trade economy in China.Thispapermainly focus on how e-commerce will reshape firm’behavior, such as export decisionmaking, export intensity and export pattern with or without intermediate. Although arich group of literature discussed the impact of e-commerce and its impact oninternational trade.Nevertheless, most of these studies mainly focus on cross-countryandcross-industry level, and the Chinese literature on this field lacks systematictheoretical and empirical research with trade theory. This articlewish to shed lightsonthis field.Firstly,This paper conducts a survey on the research of the relationship among theE-Commerce, trade intermediary and international trade. The analysis based on theseliteratures indicates that the role and characteristics of trade intermediary are evolving inthe era of E-Commerce. Given the importance of E-Commerce, it should be integratedinto the New-New Trade Theory and Trade Intermediary Theory, allowing for a furthertheoretical and empirical analysis of the function of newly developed trade intermediarywith E-Commerce.Secondly,With the monopoly competition model of heterogeneous enterprises, thepaper analyzes in theory the impact of e-commerce on the export behavior of enterprises, which shows that e-commerce has a positive effect on the export probabilities andexport intensity of enterprises. To check the theoretical hypothesis, we use Chineseenterprises survey data from the World Bank, and use the general tendency to scorematching method (GPSN) to solve the possible endogeneity. This paper indicates thate-commerce plays a significant role of on firm’s export, since it alleviates the“productivity paradox” of Chinese export firms and enhances the importance ofenterprise scale to firm export. It also shows that foreign investment ratio of enterprises,R&D investment and firm size significantly improve the firm’s export behavior. We alsofind that e-commerce has greater promotion on large firms than on small firms, onforeign companies than on domestic ones, on private enterprises than on SOEs.Thirdly,This paper analyzes the impact of e-commerce on the direct or indirectexport of firms by the introduction of e-commerce into the trade intermediary model. The model analysis shows the effect of e-commerce on firms’ export behavior isuncertain. By making use of the World Bank survey data on Chinese enterprises in2012,the empirical study proves e-commerce has positive effects on firms’ indirect exportpossibilities and indirect export proportion as well. This paper indicates the vital role thenew trade intermediary plays on export, especially on small and medium exporters. Inconclusion, the building of an e-commerce platform facilitates China’s export growth. The contribution of this paper was like,1) that we introduced the e-commerce intothe monopoly competition model of heterogeneous enterprises, which analysis theimpact of a new commercial operation pattern to the enterprise export behavior;2)thatwe introduced the e-commerce into the trade intermediary theory, which analysis theimpact ofe-commerce to enterprise export model by using theWorld Bank survey data.3) Make up for the deficiency of the existing trade theory research and break throughthe limitations of the existing empirical research. This study allows us to know moreabout the application of e-commerce in cross-border trade, which will providetheoretical basis for government to export policy.
