As one of the important factors which influence the development of organization and the society, power raise the widespread attention of scholars. In the past twenty years, social psychology scholars gradually carried out research on power and try to explain its variety effect. Power promotes individual’s goal selection and goal pursuit phase. However, the goal selection process is often a competition process between personal goals and organizational goals within one’s inner heart. As a member of society, individual especially those who with power’s goal selection behavior has an important effect on organization and national development. Therefore, exploring the relationship between power and goal selection behavior becomes particularly important. In our study, we introduce the variable- power motivation, trying to study and discuss the mechanism of power and goal selection behavior.This paper first introduces the research background, significance, thought and innovation point. Then, the theory and the status about the research on power, goal selection behavior and power motivation are summarized. Then we design the study, including concept definition, research hypothesis, research object and research tools. Then we use experimental method for measuring the effect of dominance motivation and prestige motivation on individual goal selection behavior tendency. The results confirmed dominance motivation has a positive moderating effect on power and goal selection behavior, prestige motivation has a negative moderating effect on power and goal selection behavior. This shows that power motivation can affect the regulation of power on goal selection behavior. This conclusion develops theory about the effect of power; improve the mechanism of power on goal oriented behavior. Then, according to the conclusion of our study, we put forward suggestions guiding individual make group oriented goal from the perspective of human resources management. Finally, this article illustrates the limitations of the research from the sample selection, scale applicability and research methods, and makes a prospect for the future research work.
