Employee relationship, especially employee engagement and retention issues have come into the spot light after the 14 consequent jumping affairs in Foxconn.Given the low employee retention rate in manufacturing industry in China, this research aims at exploring the factors that might lead to successful or poor employee retention and engagement.Huge amount of the industry statement, literature and researches have indicated that compared to the knowledge employees, the 1st line operational employees in electronic equipment manufacturing companies in Pearl River Delta hold much higher turnover rate and lower employee engagement. Although management team has acknowledged this issue, the real situation makes them hesitate to solve the problems on operational employees’ high turnover rate. So "how to treat the 1st line operational employees in HR perspective", "how to enhance employees’ engagement in terms of the fixed investment", "is money the only root cause of employee’s separation", will become the core topics of this research.The research process could be divided into 3 stages. Firstly, clarify the key considerations of employees’ job-hopping and corporate basic human resource management strategy; secondly, find out the different situation and practices in the corporations in terms of their employee retention; finally, research the different retention practices on different employee level and give out the suggestions and solutions to improve the productivity of the worker in electronic equipment manufacturing companies in Pearl River Delta.
