In this era of knowledge economy, human capital is becoming the key factor of economic development. Competition among various countries, regions as well as enterprises, is ultimately the competition of talents. Human capital due to its characteristic of scarcity and irreplaceable, has become the source of a enterprise to maintain competitive advantage and good performance. In recent years, small and medium enterprises in our country are rapidly developed, and becoming an important force of the economic development. In view of this, firstly review the relevant literature and the theory of human capital and enterprise performance differences, in order to summarize the critical role of corporate human capital on business performance from the theoretical analysis. Then select 149 SEMs from board as samples those are belong to various industries. Use Pearson correlation and regression analysis to carry out empirical research. In terms of the variables, select 10 index of profitability, debt paying ability, operation capacity and growth ability, using the factor analysis to calculate the composite score of the overall performance of the enterprise as explained variable. And select human capital stock, increment and flow three variables as explanatory variables. Then select the scale of the enterprise and degree of capital-intensive as control variables. Research results show that, corporate human capital has a significant positive effect on corporate performance, and the positive correlation between corporate human capital and human capital flows and incremental corporate performance is not significantly and affected by the industry factors. Impact of firm size on corporate performance is not obvious, the degree of corporate capital intensive has a positive impact. Finally, based on empirical results, combined with the actual situation of SMEs in China, make relevant suggestions to improve the level of human capital for SMEs, human capital utilization and human capital to help SMEs out of the woods.
