Family Farms:Action Logic Of Farmers’ Cooperation

Based on the field work of family farm in Songjiang District, this paper is trying to study the action logic of farmers’ cooperation in family farm. Since the China’s market economic reform and the opening up, urbanization, marketization and modernization progresses are getting increasingly high, which make China’s rural residents’daily life, agriculture production, labor methods are undergoing tremendous changes. While the rural economic development and social change also brought a series of social problems in rural areas, such as the nostalgic sense of apathy, rural hollow, continuous outflow of rural labor, resulting in a decline in the vitality of rural society and the low efficiency in the use of agricultural land and other issues, leading to the downtrend of production capacity of the rural community and affecting the development of rural society. The birth of the family farm provides a guideline to solve the issue of this series, the development of family created a new farm agriculture business model and changed the culture method of agricultural management body. This paper discusses several aspects of the operation of family farms, farmers’ cooperative action during the operation of the family farm, the internal logic and the external manifestations of farmers’ cooperation:family farms is generated under what circumstances, when and how to build and functioning; farmers in this process with which individuals or organizations to have cooperation; under state control, the farmers in the process of cooperation reflects the kind of autonomy and involuntary problems. Through research, chapter one raises the question awareness and research framework, chapter two describes village A and its family farm, discusses the rules and norms of positioning and operation of family farms. This paper classifies family farmer into two types, an instrumental rationality one and value rationality another. And it will be discussed in chapter three of the family farm dynamic mechanism of farmers’ cooperation in two aspects, to explore the internal mechanism and external conditions that how farmer’s cooperation occurred. Chapter four discusses the logical starting point for farmers’logical action, causes of action and its logical expression, reflecting primarily from rational choice through competition between farmers and their self-initiative actions in cooperation. Chapter five discusses the cooperation from the perspective of farmers and self-organization specifically establish a procedure to participate in village typical character. Chapter six reflects and discusses the future development of cooperation and action logic of family farm operations, the mode of operation of family farms and farmers will take this action logic to adapt to each other. The paper uses of rational choice framework to discusses the family farm’s process from the formation to the development, cooperation and collaboration among farmers and peasants of the village reflects the farmers’ rational autonomy, its action logic dominated by rational choice, not only agricultural land get the rational use, achieve the interests of farmers’ income, but also more inspires peasant autonomy of action and their action logic.
