Urbanization is an important historical process of human civilization and economic and social economic development. China’s urbanization coincides with the rapid development stages, many scholars predict that China’s urbanization rate will reach 80% in the end of 21st century. Urbanization has become the booster and benchmark of civilization for social development and modernization since the modern times. After decades of development China’s urbanization has made remarkable achievements, but it does not always bring people the "better life", the process of urbanization is facing the problems of traffic congestion, environmental pollution, the large wealth gap, excessive consumption of resources and other issues. Therefore, changing the development style of the urban, combining with the reality in the process of urbanization, and taking intensive, low-carbon, green, environmentally friendly new urbanization path is not only the necessarily (?) for China’s sustainable development, but also the important guarantee to achieve the goal of smoothly building a moderately prosperous society.Agriculture is the foundation of national economic development. During the 30 years after reform and opening up, China’s national economy has achieved a sustained and rapid growth, people’s lives have reached the overall well-off, but the current well-off is an uncomprehensive, low levels one. Under the current conditions and the level of development of natural resources, how to continue to protect the country’s food security and improve the living standards of farmers is the eternal theme placed in front of China’s agricultural development. Therefore, to increase farmers’ income and improve their quality of life and accelerate the building of a moderately prosperous society, and to make agricultural production provide more material for economic and social development, we must accelerate the process of agricultural modernization and promote the coordination of urban and rural areas. In 2014, China’s urbanization rate is 54.77%, based on international experience (the urbanization rate between 30%-70% range represent rapidly increasing stage of urbanization), China’s urbanization has entered a stage of rapid development. However, the level of agricultural modernization is low, it is still in the growth stage, agricultural modernization has lagged far behind in the process of urbanization, and the outstanding "three rural issues" seriously hampered China’s modernization process. The 18th Party Congress proposed to promote coordinated development of urbanization and agricultural modernization, the primary task of this phase is to achieve the deep transformation of economic development model and the growth mechanism, therefore, we must attach great importance to the coordinated development of urbanization and agricultural modernization, avoid causing environmental pollution, overcrowding and other "urban disease" due to the one-sided emphasis on the development of industrialization and urbanization, and neglect the foundation of agriculture as the process of industrialization in developed countries.Based on the basic conception of the scientific development conception and coordinate development of urban and rural, this paper follows the multi-angle, multi-level, multi-dimensional research ideas. First, through theoretical analysis to explore the internal mechanism of coordinated development of the new-type urbanization and agricultural modernization, and analyzes the status quo of Chongqing’s new-type urbanization and agricultural modernization. Second, through empirical analysis, comprehensively evaluating the level of development of Chongqing’ new-type urbanization and agricultural modernization, and the degree of coordination between the two, revealing the factors affecting the coordinated development. Finally, this paper propose to achieve the coordinated development of Chongqing’s new-type urbanization and agricultural modernization, we should focus on promoting the ability of absorbing surplus rural labor force of urban secondary and tertiary industries, while strengthening the foundation of agriculture production, improving labor productivity, increasing farmers’income, so as to realize the parallel development of new-type urbanization and agricultural modernization.
