By2012, China has been the largest automobile produced and soldcountry for four consecutive years, and the volume of passenger cars hasexceeded15million for the first time. With the development of passengercar market, the competition is also increasingly fierce. In order to gain moreprofit, more and more automobile companies have focused on the passengercar logistics, the third profit source of company. Currently in China, morethan85%of passenger cars are transported by road transportation, and themain characteristics of passenger car transportation are singletransportation mode, small transportation batch and unbalancedtransportation, which have become the main reason of the high logisticscost. Compared with European, America, Japan and South Korea, Chinahas a lot of space to improve on passenger car transportation.Multimodal transport has been widely applied in many territories forits advantages on cost and management. It can combine differenttransportation modes, and give full play to the advantage of them. So it may be an effective way to apply onto small passenger car transportation.Based on this, this paper has constructed the cost model of small passengercar multimodal transport, and analyzed the economic efficiency of eachtransport solution with actual case study.Hub-and-spoke Network has been widely used in industries includingcontainer shipping, parcel express and travelling, for it can improvetransport efficiency and optimize the allocation of resources. So it’s alsogood in helping improve the current situation of small passenger cartransportation, which has badly influenced the practice of multimodaltransport. Base on the above background, this paper constructedhub-and-spoke Network model of passenger car transport, expounded thethought of tabu search algorithm to solve the model, and realized thealgorithm with case study. The result showed that hub-and-spokepassenger car logistics network has competitive advantage in cost.The research of this paper has enriched the empirical analysis as wellas the network planning of passenger car transportation research.
