Abstract:Most employees of design institutes as technical business are knowledge workers who care about money taking home, but also pay more attention to equality of remuneration system. Thus, a equal, fair, and efficient remuneration system is key to all design institutes.Following basic theory of remuneration management and performance management, the researcher investigates and analyzes existing remuneration system, defines problems with the system, and designs a new remuneration system that can drive the production management and growth of the Project Department.The research is presented in several parts. The first explores fundamentals as remuneration structures, incentive system, and performance assessment with reference to literatures on remuneration management and performance management. In the second section, based on survey via questionnaires and phone calls, the researcher explains the status quo of and problems with existing remuneration system in the Project Department of Chonfar from various aspects as remuneration structures, applicability of remuneration models, evolvement of and influence on remuneration system, and performance evaluation among others. Learning from domestic counterparts’ remuneration management and approaches to optimize remuneration structure and perfect performance assessment, a new remuneration system is proposed to solve current problems and fuel the department’s growth. The last section lists out the key issues and supporting measures to the implementation of the new remuneration system.The research can provide a useful reflection of how to develop fair and efficient remuneration and performance management systems for design institutes with business similar to that of the Project Department of Chonfar...
