City Leisure Space Research Based On City Block Scale

With the multi-cultural development of city, people ’s living standards and leisuretime increasing day by day, peoples’ leisure activities are increasing as well, whichlead to the development of leisure space, both in quality and profession. Under thecontext of rapid urban development, recreational function has become an importantfeature of a modern city，which makes domestic and foreign academics launched aresearch on urban casual and leisure space. In China, the Leisure Studies on this fieldjust begin and in lack of research expertise in-depth.As a result, this paper made exploratory research of urban leisure space bases onthe Shanghai neighborhood scale, this paper mainly refers to the teahouses? bars，cafes to represent the leisure venues. This paper select Shanghai Xintiandi，Hengshan Road，Meichuan Road leisure Street and Qibao as the study sample.In this paper uses an interactive website web2.0, such as Tintin map andDazhong, combined with field research to summairse into227components, anddigitize them into a elements distribution map of urban leisure space. We find thatjudging rfom the quantitative and spatial distribution of the analysis of the elements,cafes are most widely distirbuted in the sample blocks; bars followed and have astrong urban-rural difference in the distirbution, which mostly concentrated in theurban areas; teahouse ranks the last and distirbutes in an increasing trend from city tosuburb. Secondly? analyse spatial characteristics of those three types of elements. Finally, use a buffer of the elements by ArcGis to study the distirbution relationshipbetween urban leisure space and other elements, mainly for the commercial area,urban transport, urban residential area, tourist area and so forth, the study shows thatthe distribution of elements surrounding the accommodation facilities are most closeand over. Secondly，residential and transit sites also have important implications forthe distirbution of elements of urban leisure space，over60%Leisure Venues locate in5minutes walking area surrounding the settlements and bus stops，while the ifgurecan reach to over52%for business building. As for the Mails，factors affecting thedistribution of urban leisure space are weaker than the previous several items,Leisure Venues in five minutes walking distance is only26%. Therefore, layout ofthese five elements of urban leisure space should be fully considered in the urbanplanning.
