In order to reach the goal of expanding the scale of agricultural production and operation organizations and stimulating the potential abilities of agricultural production factors, we should establish a performance evaluation system of farmer professional cooperative combining with history, current status and existent problems of China rural areas. The fundamental cause of farmer professional cooperative’s running efficiency and its long-term development lie in the performance management. In light of this, the paper establishes the performance evaluation model for farmer professional cooperatives based on institutional theory and corporate strategy doctrine with attemption to simulating the performance of professional cooperatives which can increase peasant income, and then uses the farmer level data and cooperative level data to conduct an empiracal analyst.Taking the kiwi professional cooperative in Cangxi county as an example, this paper is mainly focus on the study of following aspects:the determination of performance evaluation index and its weight, the establishment of performance evaluation system and its application, the future development model of kiwi professional cooperatives in Cangxi county.Though kiwi professional cooperatives in cangxi County had been established for more than a dozen years, local farmers still are reluctant to enlarge planting area for the poor infrastructure at present stage, the quality of farmers’ product is not uniform and Cangxi county still lack of criterion of key techniques for kiwi plantation, and many other issues. In this paper, we conduct in-depth analysis on the performance and development models of kiwi professional cooperatives through the usage of empirical analysis method. Then by comparing Cangxi cooperatives with other cooperatives in Zhongxin model and in New Zealand, we propose some suggestions to the further development of professional cooperatives.
